Therapeutic Resources welcomes therapists eligible for sponsorship to work in the United States. We offer generous employment packages which include health and dental benefits. The family atmosphere along with an assigned mentor from your home country will help you make the adjustment to a new culture and professional environment. 

Foreign occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech/language pathologists seeking sponsorship must meet the following requirements:

1. Educational
Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists must possess a bachelor’s degree or higher in Physical Therapy  or Occupational Therapy. Speech/Language Pathologists must complete a Master’s level program in Speech/Language Pathology.

2. Completion of the Visa Screen Process (Visa Credentials Assessment)
The Visa screening program verifies the education of an alien healthcare worker seeking employment in the United States. The Visa Screen Program is administrated by the International Commission on Healthcare Professions (ICHP) which is a division of the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS). The completed Visa screen certificate is presented to a consulate office as part of the application process. The Visa screening program normally involves licensure verification, education credentialing and English language proficiency testing (TOEFL, TSE, TWE).

4. Successful Completion of Professional Certification Tests
In order to receive a license to practice in New York State, applicants must successfully pass their profession’s certification exam.

  • Speech/Language Pathologists must complete the The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certification test to receive a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech Language Pathology.  For more information contact the ASHA National Office at 301-296-5700 or visit their web site at www.asha.org.
  • Physical Therapists must successfully complete the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) given through the Federation of State Board of Physical Therapy (FSBPT). For more information contact them at 703-299-3100 or visit their web site at www.fsbpt.org.
  • Occupational Therapists must successfully complete the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam. For more information contact them at 301-990-7979 or visit their web site at www.nbcot.org.

Once the above requirements are met, Therapeutic Resources will provide you with the documents needed to begin the sponsorship process.
